After Roan went to bed on Christmas Eve, we had a traditional O’Brien “dump dinner” (shrimp, sausage, corn cobs, and snap peas served on newspaper), we played a game of “pig” (a really fun dice game we learned from our Uncle Albie and Shirley), and then we piled all the presents in the middle of the living room floor where Roan usually plays. We couldn’t wait to see Roan’s reaction the next morning. He was calmer than we expected, but very curious. He immediately got into the bows, ribbons, and paper. It took longer for his new toys to grow on him. But now, he lives for his new toys! He hardly slept the next few days because he couldn’t stop playing.
