A Sense of Smell

As is common among babies, Roan’s nose use to be a no man’s land – whenever we tried to clear his nasal passaes, he’d scream and fuss as though we were killing him. Colds were difficult mostly because of the dreaded booger removal process (his irate and uncooperative behavior later transferred to the diaper changing process, making that job even more fun). Anyway, at some point he either saw the light on the benefits of booger removal, or he just got really intrigued with the whole business of his nose, because he now seems to enjoy getting his nose picked – he likes to look at the boogers, tries to eat them, and tries to pick our noses. Just saying the word “smell” will trigger alot of dramatic sniffing (here he is smelling a flagrant plant). And if we say “EWWwww NASTY” in a strong Baltimore accent, he will try to smell everyone’s feet. That’s our fault, because we started saying that after smelling his feet. Now he thinks it’s a hilarious joke.
